Live Vision Camera (Xbox 360)

Live Vision Camera (Xbox 360)

In a nutshell:
The Xbox 360 gets its own version of EyeToy with this multi-use webcam and motion sensing controller that is a must-have piece of next gen hardware.

The lowdown:
Capturing at a resolution of 640×480 and at 30 frames per-second, the Live Vision Camera has far more practical uses than the EyeToy ever did, with the ability to use it for free live video chat and picture messaging. It’s extremely easy to use and even lets you customise your own gamertag picture. The camera will also work on a PC too. Installation is very very easy–simply plug it in and the Xbox 360 recognises it straightaway.

It comes with a free download of card game UNO and the Super Monkey Ball style Totemball. Other games that support the Live Vision Camera include Bankshot Billiards, Texas Hold’em, Hardwood Hearts, Hardwood Spades and Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six: Vegas which allows you to digitise your face into the game. The Live Vision Camera has every chance of becoming as essential to next gen gaming as it is to next gen online chat.

Most exciting moment:
Although it is only a card game, UNO instantly illustrates just how much the Vision camera can transform a game. Each player gets their own little video feed on-screen, so you can chat to and see whoever you’re playing with and communicate with them in real-time. Dressing up can also push up the fun factor somewhat. Just make sure it’s appropriate!

Since you ask:
Developer Strange Flavour, creators of Totemball are planning another two Xbox Live Vision games for the future. It’s not clear though whether they’ll be downloadable Xbox Live Arcade games or proper retail titles.

The bottom line:
This is EyeToy done right and already a must-have for Xbox Live.-HARRISON DENT

Customer Review: Xbox Live Vision Review
A good idea with some great potential but for the time being that’s all it is. I think it’s great that the camera can be used as a normal webcam, being a USB, you can just plug it into your PC.

The camera is reasonably clear, however you can take a higher advantages of the effects on the 360. After taking a photo, to set as your personal gamerpicture, or to send to a friend, you can add various effects, including the common settings like black and white, sepia, negative, as well as special lens effects that expand, inflate, or reflect the picture, as well as many more.

When i purchased this item, it comes with a one month free gold membership on xbox live, an extra headset for online chatting (worth about ?14.99 at the time), and a code to download UNO full xbox live arcade game. Great if you have friends over with the headset, so you can all talk to different people, and UNO isn’t a bad way to boost your gamerscore.

Similar to the Sony Eyetoy, on playstation 2, you can use it to control characters. However there is few games this is compatible with. TotemBall, (a free arcade game that requires the camera) is not the greatest of games, but, for the younger generation it can be fun. Basically you control a ball rolling around a level, by moving your arms up and down in fountains to control the speed and direction. Doesn’t sound great, because basically it isn’t, specially when you already have perfectly good games to play on.

You can also have video conversations and calls with other xbox live members but they must have a gold membership to view and send their own (if they have the cam), or they can just watch, (with gold).

Another great feature that the visioncam can be used for is ‘Gameface’ technology. Despite only being in one game, this shows great potential for personalising characters. The only game supporting this so far is Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas. I don’t own this game but I would say - aswell as many other people - that it’s possible one of the greatest shooters on xbox 360 so far. In multiplayer you create your own characeter, when the camera is connected, you set up to take a photo, line up your face in good lighting in the box shown on screen, then take a photo, repeat it again from the side. After quite a long wait, that, providing it works, is worth it, a photo appears on your soldier that doesn’t look identical, but looks quite good. Unfortunately, I don’t think you can arm your character with various headgear, like scars, balaclavas and goggles but you unlock an achievement worth 20 or 30 gamerpoints which is a highish benefit if you have a low score like me :)

Despite a high asking price, with all the extras and potential included it is worth buying. However it’s also worth waiting for to hope the price lowers and more games include the gameface technology.

Hope this review was helpful to anyone considering buying this item.

Customer Review: An Average product
The Live Vision Cam is the Xbox 360 Webcam. It plugs into the front of your Xbox via USB and enables you to video chat, take personalized gamer pictures and scan your face into games.

As a camera it’s pretty good quality. The picture isn’t fantastic, but it’s clearer than most PC webcams and provides fluid video without any lag. It has a large viewing angle and so can see a lot of the room you are in. The camera seems to get pretty hot when on, so I recommend only leaving it plugged in whilst using it.

This camera didn’t come in a box like it would in the shop, however all the parts were there. The game DID NOT come with UNO, rather the arcade game Robotron:2040 (which has no webcam functionality). This was a disappointment as I wanted UNO, which can used the webcam function. Totemball is not fun whatsoever and just hurts your arms (and your patience).

Overall the camera is okay. It does it’s job, but could be used in future to greater effect. I scanned my face in Rainbow Six, but it looked a bit creepy and wouldn’t allow me to wear my favourite loadout. My camera didn’t come in a box or with UNO which was not properly advertised. If you can get this for about twenty pounds then it’s a good deal, but it is by no means an essential purchase for your 360.

Halo 3 Official Poster New Xbox 360 Video Game Print
Halo 3, the final video game in the Halo trilogy, is an upcoming first-person shooter by Bungie Studios for the Xbox 360. An official announcement on the developer’s website states that Halo 3 will end the current story arc of the Halo trilogy.

Please note that this is a poster and not the video game.

Halo 3 (Xbox 360)
The Halo games were always the best reason to by an Xbox and now the final part in the initial trilogy of ground breaking first person shooters is set to raise the bar for all Xbox 360 games. Well known for their secrecy, Bungie have officially revealed little about Halo 3, but what is known is that the new game features an Earth completely overtaken and controlled by the Covenant, as they seek a secret hidden Forerunner weapon.

Although little is known about the single player mode, more has been seen of the multiplayer, with various beta testing schemes going on in both secret and in public. A number of new weapons and vehicles have already been revealed including a new assault rifle, the new Spartan laser anti-vehicle weapon and a new hand held shield device for Master Chief that can create a far more effective protective shield around you. New vehicles include the ATV-like Mongoose, a new variant of the Warthog and the new, more powerful, Brute Ghost.

Of course the most important new feature that every new fan is interested in is the graphics, and they are looking predictably fantastic. With lots of technobabble, new features like high dynamic range lightning and pre-computed radiance transfer means the game will not only play great but looks amazing too.

Customer Review: A must buy
Halo 3 is the third game set in the world of Halo, and it was one of if not the most hyped games ever. It was deliberately hyped and Microsoft knew it would be their money maker, and so gave every single Live member, wheteher GOLD or SILVER membership an entire weekend to play Halo and any other game online for free. All I can say is that Halo, wehile being almost thwe same as Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2, is amazing and bering the same is brilliant as it is what people fin so enjoyable and fun to play including myself. Multiplayer is the best part as it is so much fun to pllay with friends and finally you can play with friends in ranked matches.
Customer Review: good stuff
Ive had this game for a while now but have avoided playing it in favour of fifa and fight night. Ive got myself hooked up to xbox live at last and i thought id give the old slayer matches a go online. After getting my ass handed to me on several occasions by all and sundry, i decided to give the campaign mode a whirl to hopefully improve. Ive seen many varied reviews, but ive got to say I really like the game. It looks great, its not massively difficult, there are very regular checkpoints (which i really like) and its ideal for xbox live like most first person shooters. Obviously this game isnt gonna please everybody, but its been a long time since ive played a first person shooter that I like and enjoy, so I have to recommend this game strongly to any 360 owners who have not yet got it.

Customer Review: Great game
Play as a stuntman doing great stunts for movies its amazing. The Graphics are brilliant - I love the way the roads sparkles so realisticlly! I love the easy gameplay and the way the cars and motorbikes turn easily at the flick of a button! Its a brilliant game, and I recommend it to anyone. I love it!
Customer Review: Superb
Ever since Project Gotham came out for the Xbox, i have been looking for another driving game to come and knock my socks off. PGR had everything, a good learning curve, replayability trying to ace every single race to get the cars you desired. And on a whim i bought Stuntman II: Ignition. This is the very first driving game which has left me in two states… one of being just really content to play oevr and over again in a fun loving way, and then the other state which is rip roaring aggression to master every single race. At first i thought it was impossible to get over 2 stars on any race, however once I hit the odd jobs, i had a revelation, and i went straight back to the first levels… and 5 star after 5 star came (after playing and replaying and replaying the level!!) This is not a bad thing at all. It is about becoming the master stuntman and mastering every vehicle from monster trucks, to lorries carrying a scud missile to motorbikes. They all drive differently, and you have to adjust your play to crack them. The stunts themselves are brilliantly thought out, from driving through a lava encircled town after a volcano eruption, to a Dukes of hazzard type movie… they are all brilliant fun. The only gripe i have about this (and it is a very small one) is the fact that in the action replays and trailers for the movies, you can actually see the ramps you jump over. It would have been far better to disguise them as in a proper movie… however you can not play this game and want to master it without noticing the imperfections of the game! ;) As mentioned, the string system is basically that of Tony Hawkes (although i would put it more on the Kudos system of PGR) so every time you get close to an object, go through a time gate, get air, go on two wheels-(obviously this is for the cars, and wheelies for the bikes, hitting directors marks (doing specific stunts, such as 180 degree turns, getting close to cars, bumping cars, and cashing cars) you name it, and it is there! The controls are very easy, you have accelerate, brake left and right, handbrake, and the all important action button. This sets your car on fire, slide your bike, triggers an explosion, or makes you shoot out of your car. It is of ocurse all done to the directors wishes. The cut scenes (which are basically trailers for the movies you have just completed) are briliant. They are really cheesey, and WILL put a smile on your face, and are well worth doing the scenes just to see the trailers! There are some beautiful graphics in this game, the sound is OK, nothing amazing, but the dialogue at the end of the stunt scenes reflect how you did, and can be very amusing too. Briliant game, and if you like driving games that will test you, then go for this… oh, and don’t bother with the easy mode, it is utterly pointless, as it is very easy to get one star so that you can progress.

Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (Xbox 360)

Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (Xbox 360)
In a nutshell:
The surprise hit of 2005 is back and this time it’s moved on from the prequels and onto “proper” Star Wars. It may sound like one of the worst excesses of marketing hell but this is good enough to rejuvenate your love for both video games and Star Wars (and Lego)!

The lowdown:
As ridiculous as the idea sounds this is one of the few games that really can be played by all ages, from tots to grandparents - the game even adjusts its difficultly level on the fly depending how well you’re doing. The graphics are absolutely hilarious as the game pokes gentle fun at all the films and characters and uses the Lego motif so you can build new structures and objects as you go. With more playable characters than ever each now has their own special move, such as Chewbacca’s ability to pull the arms off Stormtroopers, and you can get in and out of vehicles whenever you want in some levels.

Most exciting moment:
The game features a large number of vehicles to drive, including landspeeders and AT-STs. You can also ride a Dewback which excretes an ominous looking brown Lego stud if you press a button…

Since you ask:
The all important two player co-op mode from the first game is still in the sequel, plus you can now design your own characters out of component Lego pieces. Darth Greedo, anyone?

The bottom line:
The Force is strong with this one.

Customer Review: Don’t be a cynic - play it!!
Ok.. so this game sounds childish and silly - just for 3 years olds right? Wrong.

I am 28 and my partner is 29 and we are addicted. Its brilliant!! It takes aaages to get all the achievment points and there’s just tons of super fun game play here. It’s not too easy (I was worried that it might be) and its not too hard.

Positives: The amount of characters, levels, ships, minigames and the sheer fun value you get out of this game, whether playing it alone or in co-op mode. The star wars lego cut-scenes are hilarious!

Negatives: not many to be honest.. depth perception can be difficult. Sometimes the camera angles can be awkward. In co-op mode you cannot sign in with a second profile and unlock the achievements for both. Only player one will get the credit. The levels with the ships can be a bit chaotic…

All in all this is just brilliant, I was really surprised.

Customer Review: Fun to play…Incredibly Frustrating To Save!
I like this game a lot. It’s a laugh to play as you go through the various famous Star Wars scenes and stuff as a Lego character (the Lego Boombox that blasts out a heavy metal version of the Imperial March, making Gamorrean guards rock out is one of the best things I’ve seen!) However, I find trying to save your progress in this game EXTREMELY frustrating! For some reason when you clear a chapter and your autosave kicks in, it doesn’t save your progress properly and you end up right back at the Mos Eisley cantina when you reload your game. Not cool.

I plan to keep playing this game and figure out what’s going wrong, but that in itself is something no gamer should have to do. In short, great game, LOUSY saving system!

Customer Review: The best accessory for any 360 owner
This is absolute essential if you bought a premium pack or a wireless controller. Your 360 control pad will last 30 hours on fresh AA batteries but, what you don’t want, is to be in the middle of a battle on your favourite game only for a “Please reconnect controller” message to pop up. This simple cable completely removes the need to buy batteries ever again. Your on screen battery indicator (Guide blade) will tell you when your pad is running low then you simply plug one end of the cable into an available USB port on your console and the other in the top of the controller to recharge your battery whilst playing! Simply brilliant!

Football Manager 2006 (Xbox 360)

Football Manager 2006 (Xbox 360)
Customer Review: FOOTBALL MANAGER ON THE 360
This is the first football management on the XBOX 360 and takes the successful Football Manager franchise off the PC straight onto your XBOX 360 console.

It takes a while getting used to the controls on this game with all the buttons having a function. This is unlike the PC version where the controls are easy to use.

Apart from that you have all the leagues in here [...] and you can choose who to manage to success. The huge database gives you the opportunity to learn about so many football players from all over the world and most of the players have a photograph with them.

There is also an online mode to this game which gives you a chance to play cups and leagues online with any team in the game. However after each cup or league is finished the lobby is split up and you are returned to the main menu making it difficult to build a rapport with your fellow players.

The XBOX 360 achievements are well-thought out with a few easier ones (like win a match) to more difficult ones for the most dedicated of gamers (complete 20 seasons with 1 club). This is a challenge which you want from a game.

However the game does drag on unlike the PC version. So in summary if you want this game you may want to consider getting it for the PC.

Customer Review: Not like the PC version
The ‘Football Manager’ series was born out of the old ‘Championship Manager’ series from before Eidos took it over. These were widely regarded as the most realistic football management simulators on the market. I bought the 2005 version for the PC and played it for almost a year before getting a little tired of it. During that time I didn’t play any other games because I was so hooked by it. Eventually I bought an Xbox 360 and thought I’d get ‘Football Manager 2006′ to play on it, expecting a quicker, larger and updated game.

It has been updated to include all of the most recent transfers (up to September 05), but that is the only part in which my expectations were met.

The game database seems a lot smaller. This could be due to only being able to have 10 leagues running at once. Thet’s 10 DIVISIONS, not 10 countries’ full league system. If you want to have all of the English leagues running you have taken up seven divisions, leaving you only three more.

The idea behind this was to keep the game processing speed up so that the people who only play it on a console don’t get bored. However, it still seems slow at times.

The controlls are very fiddly. In the PC versions all of the options available to you are shown at the same time on screen, in the Xbox 360 version you are constantly pressing the shoulder buttons to get to the information you require. Even when doing this it is easy to miss the thing you were looking for, e.g. I couldn’t work out how to make substitutions at half-time for ages. If you could just use a mouse it would be so much easier, but you can’t. A cursor on screen would be easier and less time consuming than having to scroll through every line of text to reach the item you want.

Graphics and sound are minimal, but the simplicity is what made the games so appealing in the first place, so I won’t knock them. For the part, they do their job well, unless you don’t own a high definition screen. If you are playing on standard definition then text becomes difficult to make out, colours run into one another and it just becomes a horrible mess.

Online play is painstakingly slow paced and when I played online I met the most hostile group of people I ever have in an online game. They don’t like it if you play your strongest team, but they don’t like it when you do something a little experimental with your formation. You won’t make any friends with this game.

Achievements reward loyalty and experience, with some only earning you a meagre 1 Gamerscore (Buy a Player). There are 50 Achievements in all.

If you have a decent PC then get this game for that. Manegement games rarely work as well on consoles and this one is no exception.

TGC Brushed Gun Metal XBox 360 Face Plate
The Gamers Choice XBox 360 Brushed Gun Metal Face Plate, the ultimate in Xbox 360 console accessories

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (Xbox 360) With the Xbox 360 still selling like two week old sushi in Japan, Capcom remains Microsoft’s biggest supporter from the land of the rising uppercut. Realising there’s no point trying to appeal to the local market their games so far have all been very much Western in style, as exemplified by the well-received Dead Rising. This was intended as a third person take on Halo and even though the similarities are ultimately minor it’s still one of the 360’s best action games. Like most Capcom games the story (and particularly dialogue and voiceovers) is not one of the game’s best features, but thankfully there’s not much that needs explaining when you’re fighting monster bugs and giant robot riding snow pirates.

Like Halo you can have only two weapons at a time and use a recharging shield. This though is powered by an always decreasing supply of thermal energy, topped up from defeated enemies. Apart from this the only other piece of gadgetry you have to help you is a grappling hook, although it remains largely underused in the single player campaign. The various mechs you can commandeer are a great deal of fun though, with different variants being able to jump, hover or transform into vehicles. Graphically the game is excellent, with some awesomely large Starship Troopers style bugs and possibly the best explosions ever in gaming.

Where the game gets into trouble is the brevity of the single player campaign. Although this is compensated by the online multiplayer mode, even that cannot overcome the game’s innate simplicity. Complexity, or even longevity, is not what this game is about though and in terms of offering plenty of big dumb fun it succeeds admirably.

Customer Review: good storyline and an even better multiplayer
this game mihgt not be up to starders of say gears of war or halo 3 but i think it has a certian quality that you dont see in either the of the games iv just mentioned. some mihgt not see this quality but for the people u do this will certianly be a game you cherish in your xbox 360 collection.
this game has a brilliant story mode that will entertian you for quite a while. fair enough the plot is not exactly plot of the year but it does have its twists which surprise you and the graphics are quite good. the combat system is really good wether your on foot or in a giant robot thing and having this choice of combat through out most of the game is great. the best part of the game i would say is the online multiplayer as maps are somtimes absolutely humungus which much bigger than what you get in GOW or halo3 and the mechanics the games uses make multiplayer a barrel of lauhgs somtimes

the only bad thing about this game is the way it creates multiplayer matches can be frusrtaitng and may take a while but somtimes its worth it and the control layout and is a little diffrent from most shooters and the camara angles came be frustating but thats not somthing that will throw u off the game its just somthing you will get used too so all in all i would say this is worth buying if you like and want a game which is diffrent or unique to other games.
Customer Review: Hardcore gaming
Shoot things. Once dead, shoot bigger things. Once dead, shoot even bigger things. Simple and straight-forward!

Most of the levels are simply paths leading to the massive boss fights, and it’s these battles that make the game. VS (or mechs) add varity as you plough through the destruction. Lots of weapons to choose from too.

Achievement points are sparse with only 450 points up for grabs for completion (assuming you collect all the medals). If you can beat the game on Extreme Mode (150 points on offer) you are truly a gaming god - it’s the hardest challenge I’ve come across on the 360 so far (eclipsing Veteran on COD3 and Insane on GoW).

Multiplayer is surprising good fun with enough variety in gameplay to keep you interested.

All in all a well made old skool shooter

Halo 3 (Xbox 360)

Halo 3 (Xbox 360)
The epic saga continues with Halo 3, the hugely anticipated sequel to the highly successful and critically acclaimed Halo franchise. In this third chapter of the Halo trilogy, Master Chief returns to finish the fight, bringing the epic conflict between the Covenant, the Flood, and the entire human race to a dramatic, pulse-pounding climax.

Halo 3 represents the third chapter in the Halo trilogy?an international award-winning action series that grew into a global entertainment phenomenon, selling more than 14.5 million units worldwide, logging more than 650 million hours of multiplayer action on Xbox Live, and spawning action figures, books, a graphic novel, apparel, an upcoming film adaptation, and more

Customer Review: just stay positive!
people are so dissapointed because its the end of the series, or is it?

a). master chief doesnt die in halo 3, he just goes into a cyrotube, his last words were “wake me when you need me” dont skip the credits, wait till the end of the credits, then the scene will come.

b). halo is a great series so bungie wont end it, they’ll lose millions of dollars.

c). people arent staying positive, just stay positive, bungie will definetely make halo 4.

d). halo wars is coming out soon so it might not be the end of the fight.

Customer Review: Utter Rubbish
I didn’t want to give this game 1 star. That was the lowest option it would reach to. Microsoft have not done anything different with any of the halo games which other games havent covered before. This game takes very little skill to play and it isn’t interesting and totally unrealistic. This was generally a very overated first person shooter. The storyline is badly written and boring and impossible to get into, the gameplay was below average and the multiplayer dull. For the best experience in gaming play on Call of Duty 4. By far the best first person shooter out at the moment.

ALL HAIL THE PLAYSTATION 3!!!!!!

FAST DELIVERY WELL PACKED - HAVEN’T TRIED IT OUT YET AS IT IS A PRESENT FOR MY SON BUT WILL AMEND THIS ONCE I KNOW THAT IT IS OK. I HAVE NO DOUBTS THAT IT WILL BE. THANK YOU
Customer Review: Excellent product, excellent supplier
This is a serious alternative to the overpriced Microsoft branded hardware. This controller has the familiar shape as per the Original/official hardware. The coating is in a very tactile rubberised finnish, and of course most importantly - the performance is excellent with isntantaneous response. The range is very good also. ps We received it from the supllier (E W Link) the day after ordering - great service guys!

Customer Review: Iv got better
I have 4 rechargeable batteries that, when im using 2 last well longer than 25 hours. I can even prove it! I was playing my brother a match of Gears of war that went on for an unbeleavable amount of time (Around a whole day!) and his batteries died in the middle of the match. I asked what batteries he was using and he said that it was one of these packs. He also said that he recharged it the day before and was anoyed with needing to use the play and charge thing. He was in manchester at the time and we were using thoes headsets that drain battery power. I was using these batterise for a few weeks, I have even tested how long they lasted. They have a brillient lasting time of 36 hours!!! I was shoked but thought lol lol lol, what a propper find they were. These batteries cost me ?49.99 a pack so I guess theye were priced in their propper place. If you dont want to spend that mutch on a pair of batteries then get this, but if you want lasting power for intense gaming with a headset, don’t get this. Good Points: 1. Cheap for the amount of times it will need charging for the casual gamer. 2. It’s a Microsoft product so it will work perfectly with the controler. Bad Points: 1. Dosent last very long with the headset pluged in. 2. Anoying to need to use the plug and charge thing in the midle of a game.
Customer Review: Useful but perhaps a tad overpriced?
If you are using a wireless controller and find yourself forever replacing the batteries, then you might like to consider this. In conjunction with the quick charger kit, this battery will be fully charged in ~2 hours (for a single battery) or ~4 hours (for two in the charger at the same time). This then gives around 20 hours of play, which is pretty good. However, for what is essentially a NI-MH battery cell, it is expensive - especially when you consider the quick charger kit comes with a battery as well and is only a third more expensive. Having said that, it’s easier, faster and perhaps cheaper than using normal rechargeable NI-MH AA batteries. The alternative is the play and charge kit, but either you need to plan it in advance or have the wireless controller connected to the console for a period of time - kinda defeating the object of it being wireless in the first instance!

Test Drive Unlimited (Xbox 360) Customer Review: You Either Love it or Hate it
Test Drive Unlimited boasts a huge range of cars and bikes and acres of road with no boundaries. This sounds appealing and actually works very well. The Graphics are good so drive around the island exploring and enjoying the scenery is fun for a while. However it can only last so long before you get fed up of it and want to start racing, and that is when the game gets a lot worse.

The races are all very similar and just very ordinary and boring, there are other missions to do such as Hitchhikers, delivery missions and Car transport missions, but all of these are essentially the same, the only thing that changes is what you are delivering. This is a massive let down for the game and takes a lot of fun out of it.

The open-ended game play also means that there is no story at all running through the game and you may well end up thinking “what’s the point?”.

Some people I have spoken to though really love this game and think it is great to just be able to drive round the island for hours on end, however for me this is not my idea of a racing game. So, Boring as hell or the perfect escapism? That’s for you to decide but I seriously recommend trying this game out at a friends house or renting it first. That way you definately won’t be dissapointed.
Customer Review: Things you do not want to do on Test Drive!
When I first got the game I did not know what to do and I started to crash into cars but then I found out that the cops come after you and I got pulled over so do not et into trouble with the police because they can take your money away.
Do not go bank robbed because its really hard to earn all the money back without spending it!
By the way BUY A LAMBORGHINI THEY WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!

Customer Review: Great Xbox Bag
I read the reviews first, and I was not let down, this bag (in my opinion is great for Xbox 360, the internal compartments are large enough to hold your complete system plus 6 (yes 6) games. I think that the seperate quilted protective bag for the console is also a good idea, giving that extra protection from knocks etc. Downside - Your advertising that your carrying an expensive games console, so dont walk too far by yourself!
Customer Review: Back Pack
I have just got my P21 Back Pack home and am soooo chuffed with it and I love the range so much I’ve got a Slig Bag too. The good thing about the Back Pack is that it holds so much kit and if you want to use it without the console it’s got a removable sleeve so you can keep the console safe and protected at home. I use the bag for day to day use and when I want to take my console to my mates I just put the sleeve back in. As for the strength, it seems to me that this is made of the very best material and let’s just see but I bet it outlasts millions of other bags on the market.

Customer Review: Superb fun
As a boy growing up in the 80’s star wars was a huge part of my life and this was the decade when the toys associated with the film really took off. Sadly, star wars toys made of Lego were 20 years away and now, as a 30 year old, trying to persuade my wife that buying Lego is a good idea is just not happening. Thankfully the genius’s at Lego and Lucas arts have come up with this cracker of a game which I can just about get away with buying. The premise is simple in that it follows the last three films (or first 3 depending on your age!!) and you are taken through virtually every major set piece, in each film, playing as various Lego/star wars characters. The learning curve is perfect for both kids and adults alike. The cut scenes in between each level are hilarious. My first play of the game was with the “help” of an 8 and a 6 year old and we all spent most of the time in hysterics. The animation is superb and the controls are very cleverly done. Just push gently on the left stick and watching the characters “creeping” is very funny. This is a game which provides excellent family entertainment and really fits the category of “suitable for all ages”. If you are a fan of the first Lego star wars game then this comes highly recommended.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend (Xbox 360)

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend (Xbox 360)
In a nutshell:
Lara Croft is finally back in the first game to do her legacy justice since the days of the original PlayStation. With updated graphics and gameplay, and a whole new suite of moves and equipment this is the sequel fans have always demanded.

The lowdown:
After the disappointment of Angel of Darkness, the Tomb Raider series has gone back to basics with a new developer and even a new Lara. Combat is back to being only around a third of the game with everything else centred on platform jumping and puzzle solving. To help this, there’s a canny new movement system that allows Lara to jump onto and grab objects at an angle, so there’s none of the awkward grid based movement of the earlier games. This is also the first Tomb Raider to have a proper physics engine, with lots of the puzzles revolving around movement and the use of Lara’s natty new magnetic grappling hook. The graphics are also excellent, and with input from the original creator this is a long awaited return to form.

Most exciting moment:
The realisation that this is actually a proper update of the original game, as Lara leaps around cliffs like a mountain goat, with graphics and controls that aren’t still stuck in 1996.

Since you ask:
The new voice of Lara is provided by Keeley Hawes, who also plays Zoe Reynolds in BBC TV show Spooks.

The bottom line:
Lara Croft is back in the first decent new Tomb Raider game for a long time.

Customer Review: Princess of Persia?
Had this game for ages and got round to playing and completing in a few days, I must admit its not half bad- or good in fact.

You know the story and general gameplay of Tomb raiders - Run around, solve crypt puzzle and generally further your gameplay by not swan diving on a load of rocks.

This follows memories raised by lara and her journey around the globe looking for treasure.

Graphically it’s pretty good - characters are well voice acted and well designed. ( but yet again some breast crazed nutjob has designed Lara- how she can run, jump and climb with that baggage is anyones guess?)

Level design is also good not yet got the scale and height of the out door climbs and puzzles to Prince of persia scale yet but not far off.

Now the bad -

The guncontrol is brilliant upto a point and then a slight mis-calculated flick of the right thumb stick and your left targeting something completely random. The semi final boss is horrendously bad to target and hit and then the so called grapple button works when is wants.

The extremely bad camera angles are a major woe, at points when you need to know exactly where to land, the camera throws a wobbly and your left facing lara rather behind her and as you expect you cant see the jump your trying to make and go flying off a cliff.

The jumping control has a few niggles that are mainly caused by the above bad camera work but at points you just dont feel confiedent in Lara’s abilty to jump gaps or leap boxes etc.

This is a massive improvement on previous Tomb Raiders and I generally look forward to the next, But .. and its a massive But… I still believe in story, graphics and general frantic puzzle solving and leaping Prince of Persia has it nailed.

With Assassins Creed (From POP studios- Ubisoft) soon out this will show how far behind poor old Lara’s fallen behind in the 3rd person action, adventure, puzzle series. Tomb Raider Legend- hmmm not even close. Tomb Raider -Semi heard off - yes.

Customer Review: Enjoyable but…
I have to say that although i like this, to me it just didn’t ‘feel’ like a Tomb Raider game. Having played all the others(my favourite being the last revelation), i was quite miffed at the ease in which this game is completed (not to mention how short it is). It’s too linear… I missed the hunting around for hours trying to find clues and taxing my brain… the so called ‘puzzles’ in this version are so easy they may as well have not had them on there, and don’t even get me started on the ‘cut scene- press the correct colour button’ parts which were a disgraceful thing to include.

Maybe i’m being too nostalgic towards the old games. I rather think that this one has been aimed at a more mass market… shame really.

All that said though (i did say i like this game and here’s why)… it’s enjoyable to play. The graphics are quite stunning, and the gameplay is very fluid and smoothly running. The parts where you control Lara as she climbs and jumps across ledges are absolutely brilliant.

All in all, it’s a good game but not entirely a ‘Tomb Raider’ for those who were really into the original.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter: Premium Edition (Xbox 360)

In a nutshell:
Mexico City has been overrun by terrorists and only the Ghost Recon team can restore order – through the use of extreme violence. You command not just your three team mates but a high-tech array of weapons, armoured vehicles and aircraft.

The lowdown:
Although it still plays very similarly to the last Ghost Recon game this is easily the most impressive of the series so far. The graphics, particularly on the Xbox 360, are extraordinary with a whole city sprawling out in front of you at a previously unimaginable level of detail. Unlike some squad based shooters the controls are simple and intuitive, allowing you to take part in the action and order about soldiers and vehicles at the same time with the minimum of fuss. The questionable artificial intelligence of your allies is the only serious flaw, but the ability to explore the city and plan your attack from any angle usually overcomes this problem.

Most exciting moment:
Calling in a helicopter gunship as you and your men are pinned down by a dozen terrorists, snipers and tanks.

Since you ask:
The game is set in 2013 and all of the high-tech weaponry is based on equipment the U.S. expects to have in operation by then – even the Metal Gear Solid style flying recon drones.

The bottom line:
Incredible graphics and one of the best squad based shooters ever.

Customer Review: Nice
As the 360 is my first console since the megadrive(!) and having played the rainbow six games on PC with mouse etc I was wondering how on earth you could translate a complex squad tactical shooter to a gamepad with only a few buttons. I was pleasantly suprised. The controls do take getting used to, but by the end of the first misson it was all coming quite naturally. It plays brilliantly too, If you ever stop and take a look around at this city its graphically brilliant, light shimmering off the high rise skyscrapers etc. The AI is fairly intelligent, focussing fire in chokeholes, making you work your way round, taking cover and reacting nicely although i’ve yet to encounter one that uses grenades. hat impressed me most though was the non stop aspect. You complete a mission and immediately go into your black hawk and have to use the gun to clear the landing position for your next mission…you’re in enemy territory and the game makes you feel that, theres no safe place to rest up. All in all impressed, four stars though because of a few minor gripes with the cross com controls and with the sightly linear maps, but overall a damn good buy
Customer Review: What a letdown.
This was one of the games that came with my Xbox 360 and after reading reviews online I had high hopes. The graphics are alright, not as good as I was expecting though and I can’t understand why there’s a quote on the box that says “a masterclass in what the Xbox 360 can do.” The gameplay is incredibly complicated. There are so many controls you have to remember and that sucks a lot of fun out of the game. It’s not much fun in the first place. The worst thing about this game is that you can barely take any damage. OK, this is realistic but it makes the game needlessly hard. Especially when your squadmates have been hit and you’re trying to revive them with bullets flying at you. The level of damage makes it very hard to take cover and return fire as well because every time you stick your head out to fire, there’s a very high chance you’ll get hit. I’ve only played this game on the easiest setting and it’s still proving annoyingly difficult. I’m really surprised it’s got all the hype it has when only one other game I’ve ever owned has been this disappointing.

Customer Review: Tell me about XNA not Agile Project Management Methods
Pointless book where the author has used it as a soapbox to promote completely unrelated subjects like Agile project management. The text is error prone and hard to follow. Wait for a better book.
Customer Review: Hard to read - keep Google and Wikipedia handy
It’s obvious that the author knows what he’s doing. The games that he’s produced and are described in this book are amazing. There was a real buzz around XNA Racer on the community forums at the start of the year. However, I buy a book to read offline with occasional keyboard time and as such, I find this book difficult to recommend. There is too little exposition around the key concepts and the book lurches from over-explaining the basics to assuming black belt matrix algebra knowledge. A few examples: * This book is about 3D games programming but has way too few explanatory diagrams. * The author mentions point sprites as an alternative to billboards. OK, so what’s a point sprite? What are the pros and cons of point sprites vs billboards? This is a minor example but a good editor would surely have demanded an explanatory paragraph or two. * Did the author think the book would be published in colour? The text often refers to coloured elements in black and white diagrams. * The sample code contains too much of the author’s own engine library code, making it difficult to incorporate into your own efforts. * If it’s a bad idea (and it is) to use foreach in game loops, NEVER use foreach in code samples. Probably the most frustrating thing about the book is the prose style that is at times unreadable and occasionally nonsensical. The book also has an extraordinarily high number of mistakes in the text - I’m guessing this was rushed to market to beat the inevitable XNA book rush. A very talented developer let down by his publisher (and apparent lack of proofreading effort). When does Petzold’s XNA book come out?!

Customer Review: X BOX 360 XMAS disappointment
This box malfuntioned straight out of the packaging. The start up screen never appeared. On reboot it did but the box malfuntioned continually after that with games crashing out or screen freezing after variable amounts of time sometimes 5 minutes other 35 minutes. This was on Xmas day after it was given as a Xmas present - how much disappointment there was. It culminated with the red lights of doom signifying the box had indeed died. I now have to wait until January 2nd for a pick up - who can guess when the repacement will arrive? 3rd January 2008 - good service - hop it works this time.

Xbox Live Vision & 12 month Live Subscription (Xbox 360) Customer Review: Not much yet, but the potential…
That this came packaged with 12 months of Xbox Live Gold membership, a few microsoft points and a couple of free XBLA games makes it an absolute bargain. When I bought this it was ?49.99, which compared to letting my current Xbox Live subscription auto renew online, meant that I was getting the camera for less than ten quid. (If you have recently renewed your membership online then simply use the voucher in the box to extend it from one to two years before you need to renew again - the same applies to any XBox Live Gold vouchers)

Keeping this short and sweet the camera does what I expected. It’s quite small, but it didn’t need to be big and it has a nice long cable so you can find that optimum place to stand it. Picture quality is pretty good. Video chatting with “Friends” also gives you the opportunity to remove the weird looking ones from your list! (CAUTION : If you are weird looking then you may lose friends by buying this product!). The ability to take pictures of yourself and surroundings and to message your XBL Friends with them can also generate a certain degree of correspondence!

Unfortunately there is not much out there that makes good use of the camera yet. The bragging rights in C&C3:Tiberium Wars and scanning your face onto your character in multiplayer Rainbow Six:Las Vegas were for me the main reasons currently for buying it (after all I’m sure we all want virtual replicas of ourselves at the wrong end of automatic weapons fire). Definitely not disappointed.

Customer Review: Bargain!!!!!
This is an absolute bargain!!! I needed to update my live and i was intrested in getting the camera anyway…. so when i saw tis i thought…. has to be a catch…..

XBOX Live Vision Camera : ?30
Xbox Live 12 Month Subscription : ?35
Xbox Live Headset : ?15
Two Arcade live Games + 200 Microsoft points : about ?10
Total : ?90

And this all costs ?50!!!!!!

Yes i already have a headset… but now me and a friend can both go on live one as a guest… and i have spare on incase one breaks.. and its free!!!!!! Who cares!!!!

The Camera is a great piece of kit!! Easy to use and some decent features, the ability to send picture messages, change your gamercard, have video conversations, live video feed during games like Uno…. but best of all is the face mapping , seen in rainbow six vegas, which is obviously going to become a regular on up and coming games… and it works!! …. i was sceptical… i had an eyetoy for the ps2… and on tony hawks underground face mapping was available using the eyetoy… it was dreadful…. you looked like a gargoyle, or had eyes and mouths in wrong places, and was a complete waste of time!!! But this works… and is so simple… select face map.. take 2 pics (front and side) wait 30 seconds…and there you are, your face on your character and it looks brilliant!!!

And it works on my laptop as a webcam too… no daft cd’s to load somthnig that you need to load another thing that you need to get it working… plug in .. select in on you c-drive and there you have it!!! The quality is great and look at the camera itself looks fantastic… i couldn’t believe the size when i got it out the box… its tiny, nothing like the HUGE stupid eye toy…. this sits nicely on the top of your xbox

Xbox live is a must…. simple as that….. dont contemplate buying it… dont moan about the price….. cos with this.. your getting it free.. just say your buying a camera and a head set.. and hey, you get some free xbox live.. no worries!!!

Cant reccomend this package enough, as ive said it really is a bargain!! Everything you need to enjoy the most out of your 360!!!

Buy it!!!!! and send silly pictures to your friends!!!

The graphics are alright, not as good as I was expecting though and I can’t understand why there’s a quote on the box that says “a masterclass in what the Xbox 360 can do.”

The gameplay is incredibly complicated.

Perfect Dark Zero Limited Collector’s Edition (Xbox 360) In a nutshell:
Her name’s Dark, Jo Dark. And this is the story of how England’s female super agent became who she is, from humble beginnings as gun-for-hire to premier league spy. When a straightforward corporate snatch mission leads to a global conspiracy, Joanna Dark and her father get sucked into a world conflict invisible to the public setting Jo on her path to becoming a Perfect Agent.

The lowdown:
Yes, you’ll get to shoot a lot of bad guys with weapons ranging from good old sniper rifles to silenced weapons to the RCP-90, nostalgic automatic weapon of choice for fans of Nintendo 64 classic Goldeneye, also from British developer Rare. Although the graphics aren’t looking as impressive as some other Xbox 360 launch titles, you have to try it to appreciate its subtlety – Perfect Dark feels great to play.

Most exciting moment:
Co-operative modes are becoming increasingly commonplace, but Perfect Dark takes things to the next level by introducing a new character and often wholly separate paths through the game’s intricately constructed maps.

Since you ask:
After creating masterpieces from Goldeneye to platform game legend Banjo Kazooie in partnership with Nintendo, developer Rare was snapped up by Microsoft to work exclusively on Xbox.

The bottom line:
Shaping up to be the shining star of Xbox 360’s launch line-up.
Nick Gillett

Customer Review: Totally Awesome
Yea this game is wicked in loads of ways! Campaign is fun and challenging, and deathmaches are awesome with the levels and the variants - even if you don’t have XBOX Live. The graphics and detail of the game are really good too. This limited edition version comes with a disk which as a free skin for your XBOX Guide, some art and a song.

This was the first game I got when I bought my XBOX 360 and it was well worth buying!

Customer Review: This device DOES work !
I didn’t buy this for its cooling function, but for the AV-outputs. I have my 360 connected to a Sanyo PLV-Z5 projector and a Humax LDE-40A 40″ LCD-TV, optical out going to a JBL DTS/AC3 Surround System. The problem was I always had to change the cables (VGA/Beamer and Component/TV) AND the optical each time. Besides this being a hassle I felt the connectors wearing out, sitting not too firmly anymore. Now I have all cables connected simultaneously and just turn 2 little switches ! VGA working perfectly in 1280×720, component 720p/1080i. No pink screens, no 480p-only - everything works as expected. People facing those problems are doing something wrong I think: You cant switch output while the 360 is running - it checks the connections when booting; pink screens may indicate wrong cable-connections; VGA/component settings on the display-device may bet set wrong … This is a passive device meaning it does NOT have any special circuits, it’s nothing more than a “cable” with 2 switches and more connectors, so theres no reason why this shouldn’t work properly. The fans are working silently, I doubt they’ll help much, though. It may be a good idea to remove them, or connect an external power-supply to them. Im not sure if the extra-load on the AV-out is “good” for the 360. Great product for the AV-Outs ! Maybe a good cooling-soultion - not sure, though … Ordered sunday-night, delivered tuesday-morning (from the UK to germany !) Thats damn quick :)
