Timeshift (Xbox 360)
It’s never obvious what to make of delays in video games. Sometimes it’s simply an indication of a problem production that ends up looking out of date before it’s even released. Other times though it’s simply evidence of ruthless perfection: thankfully TimeShift seems to be the latter. At first glance it seems like any other first person shoot `em-up, with some technically impressive but artistically ordinary visuals. What makes it unique though is the gameplay, with the best use of time travel in a game since Prince of Persia.
The story of the game involves the unlikely named Aiden Krone go back in time and changing history to suit him - kind of like a more evil version of Back to the Future, Part II. However, the time travelling doesn’t end there as the special suit you’re strapped into to chase after him also allows you to stop, rewind or slow down time whenever you want. Since Krone has got his own version of the same kind of time suit many of the enemies can’t even be properly seen under normal conditions because they’re moving too fast, but there are more subtle uses for the rewind and stop powers. Slipping past guards or running through a burning building becomes child’s play, while stopping time, running up to an enemy to grab his gun and then nipping back to cover to shoot him with it is just one of the game’s unique pleasures. Even if Doctor Who wouldn’t approve.

Customer Review: The story is rubbish…but lets face it who cares?
OK, I’m telling you now, the story is crap. You are trying to get this guy, who has another one of these time suit things and while you do it you have to go into various places and shoot lots of bad guys.
However…there are some things which make this game very very good! Firstly, the whole concept of stopping, slowing and reversing time is amazing and (in a sick kinda way) fun. Also, this game is rated 18, and this makes it so much better, because they put tonnes of gore into it - like when you put a grenade on someone, they’re limbs, head and rest of their body blow up and scatter around the place.
The creaters have thought very carefully about use of time as well. You can stop time, and walk on water and not fall in. Or you can walk through fire and not get burned, etc. There are great selection of weapons from Assauslt rifles and crossbows to flamethrowers!
I really really wish they had made this game so you could play it in 3rd person view - that would have definately cranked the score to 4/5. The suit looks cool on the advert and game cover, yet you can’t see it in the game.
All in all, if you like the idea of stopping time and totally destroying your enemies (and there is nothing they can do about it) then I would get this game. If you’re looking for a game with a fantastic storyline and challenging enemies who can anticipate your every move, this is not the game for you really
Customer Review: Good game, shame about the ending
Well, i am more of a casual gamer, but i have GOW and Halo 3 to compare this to. As previously stated in another review, this would have worked far better seen in the third person perspective, whats the point of having an ultra cool suit, but never being able to see it to appreciate it??
That said, i found it to be a pretty good game, with the time altering aspects rescuing it form mediocrity, i mean, freezing time, shooting three of four guards in the head unfreezing it and just watch them drop to the floor NEVER gets old!
However, having completed it, i was left totally dumbfounded at the ending. Throughout the game there were some rather tricky bits to negotiate, that required a bit of thought, but the ending!!! All the way through the game, that HUGE sentinel kept appearing and i kept thinking, i’m going to have to get on that and fight my way through it, WRONG!!
Shoot three plasma cannons on top of it, slightly tricky, walk through a room, shoot the bottom cannon, game finished!! Completely lets the whole game down as far as i’m concerned.

Prey (Xbox 360)
In a nutshell:
Although it was announced more than a decade ago this demonstrates that the best things really do come to those that wait, with the most original and technically advanced first person shoot `em-up in years.
The lowdown:
Although it was conceived at a time when 3D graphics cards were still optional the basic idea behind the Prey portal technology is still the same as it ever was, allowing you to instantly step from one world to another in the game. You can even create the portals yourself as you battle grotesque enemy bosses in one area and jump back to another to recover. The game casts you as a Cherokee Indian with a number of magical powers such as spirit walking that let you explore the game world as a spirit, and deathwalk which replaces the normal need for intrusive quick saves with an innovative mini-game set between the worlds of the living and the dead.
Most exciting moment:
Not only is the portal technology amazing but the game’s use of gravity is equally inspired with gravity escalators that run up and across ceilings and some excellent zero gravity sections where you pilot spaceship pods and explore a tiny rotating planetoid.
Since you ask:
Originally intended only for the PC, the Xbox 360 version is being developed by British team Venom Games, who previously created Rocky Legends for Ubisoft, and features an 8 player multiplayer mode.
The bottom line:
Looks like being one of the top predators in the shoot `em-up world.

Customer Review: Unimaginative and boring like so many fps!
For: 1. Some of the more expansive maps looked impressive. 2. A few of the puzzles are fun. 3. The revolving floors/walls/ceilings is novel (to me anyway) and interesting. Against: 1. Utterly baffling at times where to go or what to do, and worse why? It was either incredibly linear (most of the time) or I was totally lost (almost everywhere looked the same). 2. No tension, suspense or excitement, or any need for strategy whatsoever in the game play, just blast moronic aliens when you meet them - come on! half-life is 10 years old and that had far better AI. 3. For a 2006 game the graphics look tired, plastic, and don’t compare at all well with the Unreal engine games like Gears of War, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter etc. 4. The weapons were terrible. They looked bad and sounded worse, and were always unpleasant and grating to fire. What were the developers thinking? If this game had come out during the xbox’s days, it would have been an okay game. But by the standards of games released in the last couple of years it’s just dull, annoying and frustrating. I was so bored by about half way through, I used on-line video walkthroughs to get me to the end. And was I relieved to finish it!!

My brother got me this game for my birthday as it was cheap at under ?10 and it is a First Person Shooter game, which are my type of games anyway. In Prey, you play as a character named Tommy. In the beginning of the game, you start off in the bar, which is owned by his girlfriend, Jen. Tommy is bored at living in the reservation and wanted to travel elsewhere and leave home for a short while. However, Jen refuses, as her home is where she belongs. An argument commences and Tommy is hooked up in a bar-fight. After successfully finishing off this battle the entire building is lifted by a gravitational force into this green coloured ray of light. Tommy is then held captive along Jen and his grandfather, Enisi, Tommy is then set free after a large explosion occurs in the building, but unfortunately he witnesses his grandfathers death after a cutting machine is used to crush him. Desperate to save his girlfriend, Tommy seeks for someway to stop the machine for good and save her Jen from this terrible fate. And so, an adventure for Tommy has just begun! You must help Tommy travel through this weird galaxy in an attempt to save his girlfriend Jen and the Earth. Tommy has supplied himself with his trusty Wrench so he is not alone when it comes to taking out these weird creatures, which lie around the corner. Not only that, but Tommy can also use there weird looking weapons featured around the galaxy to take out those nemesis too. The game brings out a lot of confusion as well as the levels present weird challenges. One minute you walk underneath a tunnel, the next minute you might be upside-down walking along a loose platform! The game also presents a spirit mode in which Tommy can use his spirit to go to places where you cannot as a human and get to places you cannot reach in your usual state! Prey is currently available for PC and the XBox 360! The XBox 360 Version provides 44 Unlock able Achievements giving you a grand total of 1000 Gamerscore Points! My Personal Game Score: 8.5/10: Excellent, Wonderful, Good One My Wish: When you finish the game, the credit scene takes so long, and even when it’s finished, you’ve still got to do a couple more things before you actually finish the game and get the achievements so I wished you can press a button to skip the credits! Final Comments: Overall, Prey is quite an easy game and you can get all 44 achievements with no problems. If you are after a FPS game with easy achievements and an easier chance to get 1000 Gamerscore Points, this is a game for you! 2006 FIFA World Cup (Xbox 360) In a nutshell:
The official game of the 2006 World Cup has all the stadiums, players and kits of the real thing, but the biggest surprise is that it actually improves upon the usual FIFA gameplay too. So if England does not win in real life, you can at least make sure they do in the virtual world.
The lowdown:
. In previous years, FIFA Word Cup games have meant little more than a cut down version of the existing FIFA game, however this version features not just the 32 teams from the finals but the chance to play as any of the other 95 countries from the qualifying rounds. There’s even the option to replay historic World Cups - although only a handful of older players are included. In terms of gameplay things have been noticeably speeded up and there’s even an alternative control system that exactly mimics rival Pro Evolution Soccer. PES fans will still be suspicious but this really is the best FIFA yet.
Most exciting moment:
Reliving the glory of 1966 with the current England team and then going on to do the same thing in this year’s Cup as well!

Many of the England team, including Wayne Rooney, claim to be video games fans and many have mentioned playing the FIFA games between real matches.
The bottom line:
A genuine improvement on FIFA 06 with the usual top notch EA presentation.

Customer Review: Avoid
This game made me remember why everybody should avoid FIFA games. The AI is terrible, visuals are just awfull and the game is just no fun. It really is just EA Sports cashing in on the world cup licence, again. Only make this a purchase if you have a wobly table somewhere in your house so you can put it under the leg. Other than that, avoid like the plague.
